The Receding Goodness of Summer
Looking out my 14th floor panorama, the north shore is hidden under a dense cloudy blanket; the city glows dull and grey, seemingly lifeless.
The breeze through the balcony door contains no warmth, no matter what the radio says about a potential 18 degrees.
I will find my solace in a hot cup of coffee, a lit candle, a warm breakfast.
I have the latest Georgia Straight to read, in addition to my Maisonneuve, and the current novel, A Complicated Kindness.
I should be excited... a week today, I could be getting that call to go to work.
I am excited that a decent revenue is coming, but it is hard to not miss this life I have enjoyed for 2 months now. I have *loved* it. Seriously. It is not a bad thing to be a lady of leisure... Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could enjoy such a life. Work 9 months, get 3 weeks at Christmas, and 2 months during summer.
My accomplishments are many, my experiences priceless.
Sure, I never lost those 20 pounds I thought I would. I discarded a few briefly, but they missed me and came back. But my LOVE cup runeth over...
I will think fondly of this time, as I start my preparations to return.
I will look forward to it, as I make my way through the year.
But it isn't over just yet!
One more wild weekend to go!
